We might get to the light at the end of the tunnel faster if writers like Caren stop lengthening the tunnel. If Republicans are showing signs of abandoning the Trump ship, we don't really need Caren to mull over what it could all mean, as though this is all an Earth-shattering revelation. Again, Trump remains relevant because liberal journalists keep him relevant, and then they have the audacity to clutch their chests in shock that people still support the former president. Persistent Trump supporters might be misguided for placing their bets on a candidate whose time has passed, but amateur writing like Caren's is toxic for its insistence on giving the bully his pulpit. Writing about a man liberals say was detrimental to America is like forcing a victim to continue engaging with their abuser. Or, more likely, it is like a writer too basic to create something unique. Unlike Trump, I am hopeful Caren can do better. I look forward to reading.
