The problem is not that people give voice to their base feelings. The problem is that very few people are willing to give voice to them in public, and that is why Trump supporters thrive. People, on both sides of the aisle, are tired of politicians speaking and behaving in the way they believe will earn them the most votes. I’ll grant you there are likely a thousand ways Trump could say things better, but liberals would not embrace this reality, because it would force them to admit that maybe, just maybe, Trump could be right. Strip away the rhetoric, focus just on the policies, and this year’s election would be no contest.
