Pelosi won't leave until she's good and ready. I don't agree with her politics, but she's been a shrewd operative worthy of respect for her strategy. Pleasing the moderate base against the onslaught of the far left can't be easy. McCarthy would be better served convincing the Republican base to employ a better marketing message inclusive of the minorities who support conservative ideals, thereby building momentum for the minority that was already ignited in 2020. My only issue with your piece is the minimization of January 6 as a "tourist visit." Republicans may not agree it was an insurrection, but nor do we think it was a casual stroll in the park. Criminal activity of all stripes should be condemned.
