As someone who voted for Trump, I appreciated reading this article. It’s possible to disagree without being so vile about it, and sure, people will argue Trump himself has said some vile things. That is a monster of his own creation. People will remember his tirades before they remember his good policies, paid parental leave for the federal workforce and greater transparency in hospital bills being just two of them, but what concerns me is that few people will even be aware of these positive steps forward because people decided he was a terrible human being without doing their own independent research or individual thinking. We only assume the Democratic party offered better alternatives. We’re too quick to lap up what the media throws at us, and in the end, perhaps the people who look like the bigger fools is us for behaving like it. So thank you for what was a level-headed article and fair assessment. As a conservative, it served as a good reminder that even though we might disagree, at least I’m disagreeing with someone who was intelligent enough to be thoughtful about the opposing position they took and made me reconsider some of my own assumptions.
